LRFC lose first away game of the season

Limavady made the short journey up the Ballyquin Road on Saturday to face Dungiven Celtic Reserves. Both sides came into the game on a high following big opening days wins.

LRFC boss Colly Hartin made three changes to the starting XI from the previous week with John Nicholas debutising in goal for the injured Liam Wilson, James Smyth starting at right back in place of the injured Jonny Cottle and Oisin Fleming making his debut in centre midfield in place of Ricky McMullan.

The first half ended goalless with the two teams cancelling each other out and only a few half chances created.

Dungiven took the lead in the second half with an opportunistic free kick from the halfway line catching the Limavady goalkeeper off guard and sailing into the net.

The Roesiders equalised straight from the kick off when substitute Odhran Campbell got to the byline and cut the ball back to the edge of the box for midfielder Shane Allen to tuck the ball into the corner of the net.

Dungiven increased the intensity as the game grew on and took the lead following some poor defending from Limavady. A corner was put in right across the face of goal with several LRFC defenders failing to clear the ball leaving a tap in for Dungiven.

They added their third late on with a well placed shot into the bottom corner from 25 yards out.
